We have to put up with some oppresive heat in the summer here in Texas, but it sure is nice to be able to go camping year-round!!
But, I feel your pain!!

RE: Tire Spacing

I went to the Michelin site and they show the radius of 14.8" but a diameter of 32.3". Can you tell me why the diameter is not two times the radius?
When the tire squats under the load, the radius from the hub to the ground is going to be less than half of the diameter.
The important issue is "do the math". Michelin XPS RIBS in 235/85/16 list a tire diameter of 32". Measure your axles - center of hub to center of hub. Subtract the tire diameter from the hub to hub measurement. That will tell you how much space you will end up with between the tires.
My hub spacing is 33" - I would have only 1 inch between tires so I recently bought and had installed 245/75/16 RIBS. I maintained my three inch spacing.
IMHO aspect ratio is important, but my maiden voyage on the new tires proved that my decision was correct.
Most importantly - 235/80/16 are a size made for ST - get rid of your ST tires and install LT. Again, IMHO.
I couldn't agree more!! The 245/75 seems to be the best choice to maintain the factory gap.

RE: Designer 35RLTS and Jayco Talk...Thanks Frank!!

The first was a loose and leaky water connection to the hot water tap at the bathroom sink. No a big deal to tighten and I think we caught it before the water did any damage...but very annoying and so very preventable with a little care and attention on Jayco's part.
My 291 RLTS did the same thing, and like you, I tightened it up. That stopped it for a while, so I tightened some more. This went on for a while, so I took it to the dealer and they replaced the fitting under the sink under warranty. The guy said there has been a problem with the fittings from the factory.

RE: 2008 Jayco Eagle owners (specifically 341RLQS)

Just curious...why did you have to relocate them?
The instructions that came with mine did not mention anything about this.

RE: You'll never believe this (actually you might)

Not my truck, not my trailer, not my problem.
So, you would be perfectly ok with this guy driving down the road in the lane next to your wife and kids???
I couldn't care less about his safety if he's that stupid, but it's the innocent by-stander that usually gets hurt.
I agree with the poster that says this should be taken off the road. The Tx DPS would be all over an 18 wheeler that's overloaded.

RE: 2008 Jayco Eagle owners (specifically 341RLQS)

I put JTs on my 291RLTS and would not give them to you for twice what I paid. The best money I've spent on my coach!!
Regarding the rear scissor jacks, yes they work good. It seems that the rear needs more side-to-side help than front-to-back. The side arms take care of the front-to-back.

RE: Love Bug Residue

try using dryer sheets....like Bounce
Exactly!! Don't mess with all that other stuff when all you have to do is to dampen a dryer sheet and wipe off the bugs...residue and all!!
I was skeptical at first, but after trying it I was amazed. No work, just wipe. It is that easy!!

RE: Reese Remote Slider Actuator

Rumors say it only works while the truck is in park.
It doesn't actually actuate the slide mechanism, but the locking mechanism that allows it to slide. So, you put the truck in park, actuate the unit to unlock the slide, apply the trailer brakes, move the truck to slide to new position, then actuate to "re-lock" the slide.

RE: 65psi tires vs 80psi tires

It used to be when a service station changed tires they put them in a BIG steel cage. If you have never seen a tire explode you wouldn't know why. But you only have to see one blow up and you would always want a BIG steel cage any time you pump up your tires. Using a wheel rated lower than a tire NEEDS a BIG steel cage.
